Our story

Born at 8,848 m.

Alpenglow is the glow a mountain wears at sunrise. We think people have one too.

For a few minutes before the sun is fully up, the highest peaks in Nepal turn coral, then gold, while everything below is still in shadow. Climbers and Sherpas have watched it for generations. In English it's called alpenglow. We call it the mountain's aura.

8,848 metres is the height of Sagarmatha, the mountain most of the world knows as Everest. Aura8848 was born in Nepal, a long way below the summit, with a stubborn idea: generic merch is for nobody.

One crowd at a time

We don't make "funny shirt" shirts. We pick a specific group of people, nurses, vibe coders, teachers, Nepalis far from home, dog people, cat people, crypto holders and more, and we write the joke they'd tell each other. The night-shift nurse who has seen things and charted them. The developer who pressed "accept all" and lives with it. The teacher grading essays in the pickup line. The sourdough starter that is legally not a pet.

If you have to explain the shirt, it isn't for you. If someone across the room laughs before you say a word, you've found your people.

How we make things

Every design is original and drawn for this shop. We have 50 designs live today, and more are coming, one crowd at a time.

We print on demand with our commerce partner Fourthwall. Nothing is mass-produced and nothing sits in a warehouse: your tee or mug is printed after you order it, then shipped to you, wherever you are. It means less waste, and it means we can make something for a niche of five hundred people as easily as for five million.
